School Behaviour

At Pear Tree Infant and Nursery School, we pride ourselves on promoting positive behaviour through consistent praise and recognition.

Our ethos centres on recognising and celebrating positive values in all aspects of school life.

Pupils are given daily opportunities to earn a “Diddi Dot” reward. These accumulate towards the following certificates:

  • 15 Diddi DotsBronze Certificate
  • 30 Diddi DotsSilver Certificate
  • 50 Diddi DotsGold Certificate

Parents are invited by class teachers to attend a celebration assembly to take part in their child's achievement.

Our behaviour policy outlines key features of our vision and philosophy in enabling all of our pupils to celebrate their successes.

Our School Rules

Praise Walls

All staff, including teachers, teaching assistants, midday supervisors, administrative staff and site staff consistently promote positive behaviour through the use of daily affirmations and praise, embedded within the school’s ‘Praise Wall’ system.

The ‘Praise Wall’ provides a visible and consistent approach to recognising positive behaviour and attitudes. Affirmations are regularly shared and displayed, enabling pupils to celebrate success and reflect on positive contributions to school life.

Pupils engage with the ‘Praise Wall’ system throughout the school day, including during lessons, playtimes and lunchtimes. This consistent approach supports pupils in understanding expectations and reinforces positive behaviour across all areas of school life.

Through regular exposure to positive affirmations, pupils develop the language and understanding needed to become respectful, responsible and active members of the school community.

Staff demonstrate a clear commitment to promoting high expectations and aspirations for all pupils. The ‘Praise Wall’ system is embedded as part of a whole-school approach to behaviour, contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Parents as Partners

School leaders ensure that parents and carers are regularly informed about the school’s approach to positive praise and affirmations.

At Pear Tree Infant and Nursery School, effective partnership with families is prioritised. Leaders actively support parents and carers in understanding and reinforcing the school’s positive behaviour ethos, ensuring a consistent approach between home and school.
