What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Government to support schools in improving outcomes and opportunities for eligible children. It is intended to help schools address barriers that may affect children's learning, progress and wider experiences.
At Pear Tree Infant and Nursery School, we see Pupil Premium as an important part of our commitment to ensuring that every child can thrive, achieve and fulfil their potential. We know that disadvantage can present different barriers for different children, so our approach is carefully shaped around the individual needs of our pupils.
We have high aspirations for all of our children, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our Pupil Premium strategy is not simply about closing an attainment gap; it is about removing barriers, strengthening opportunities and ensuring that every child has the knowledge, skills, confidence and experiences they need to succeed.
We use our Pupil Premium funding strategically to support high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and wider opportunities that enrich children's experiences. Our approach is informed by evidence, our knowledge of our children and the needs of our school community.
We are committed to ensuring that children eligible for Pupil Premium are seen, valued, supported and challenged to achieve highly. We want every child to develop resilient minds, respectful hearts and ambitious aspirations, with no child's circumstances limiting what they can achieve.
We publish our Pupil Premium Strategy and information about how the funding is used so that our families and wider community can see how we are investing in better outcomes and brighter futures for our children.
