The School Day
All schools maintained by the local authority are required to:
- Provide a minimum of 32.5 hours per week This includes the time in each day from the official start of the school day (i.e. morning registration) to the official end to the compulsory school day (i.e. the official home time). The 32.5 hour minimum school week includes breaks and lunch times as well as teaching time
School opens at 8:50am for all children, and closes at 3:20pm. This is a school day of 6 hours and 30 minutes, which over the 5 day week is 32.5 hours.
- Meet for at least 380 sessions or 190 days during any school year to educate their pupils
As you can see by the term dates, we currently open for the following number of days:
Autumn Term 2023/24 – 75 days
Spring Term – 54 days
Summer Term – 66 days
Total : 195 days
- Operate two sessions on every school day divided by a break in the middle of the day
The school timetable operates a morning session, divided by a lunch time break at 12pm. The afternoon session then begins at 1:20pm.
